Remember the heartwarming story of the local ‘buffalo boy' Mohd Syukur Khamis, who is also known as the 'Malaysian Mowgli’?

The 14-year-old became an overnight sensation after his photos of him posing with a herd of buffaloes that his father rears went viral on social media earlier this year.

The boy of the hour.
Well, there's no rest for Mohd Syukur, because the kampung boy is set to become more famous now as one of his award-winning photos has been selected to be displayed at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Rome, Italy next month.

According to a report by Malay Mail, Mohd Nazri Sulaiman, the photographer of the gorgeous photos, shared the good news on his Facebook page.

“Alhamdullilah! My photo has been selected to be on display at galleries in Rome, Italy and several countries around Europe,” he said.

Prior to this, Mohd Nazri’s photo clinched the grand prize (Street/People category) at the 'Asian Geographic: Images of Asia 2018' awards and also earned him the 'Remarkable Award' at the 2018 Siena International Photography Award in Italy.

Mohd Syukur’s love for the herd of buffaloes that his father rears has brought many photographers, including foreign ones, to his village in Kuala Terengganu to capture the unusual bonding.

It looks like our very own Malaysian Mowgli is now an international superstar.
