Sri Lankan couples who had been anxiously waiting to get married amid the lockdown due to COVID-19, can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

This is because the nation has lifted the ban on weddings that came into effect in March.

However, there is a rule which the couples must adhere tonewly-wed couples are forbidden from kissing!

According to a report in News Straits Times quoting the country’s Health Ministry, weddings could now be held in hotels and halls, but the number of invitees must be restricted to a maximum of 100 people.

Smaller group.

Maintaining social distance

Also, invitees are not permitted to kiss, hug, or shake hands with the married couple.

Grooms are also forbidden to kiss the bride in public.

"People should keep in mind not to exceed the 40 per cent seating limit at any reception hall. They cannot, for any reason, invite more than 100 guests either,” said Health Service deputy director-general (environmental health and food safety) Lakshman Gamlath.

Oh well. Guess we just have to go with the "new normal". Air kisses boleh kah?
