Guard your bags and purses, everbody!

Everything is on the rise these days; the cost of living, petrol prices (occasionally) and unfortunately, snatch theft cases.

According to a report by news agency Bernama, the capital city of Malaysia has seen a drastic increase in snatch theft cases this year.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim told the news agency that the police have received 368 reports to date.

That's a huge increase compared to last year's numbers as the police reportedly only received 234 reports - for the whole of 2016!

Holy moly, things are looking really bad!

However, Mazlan assured that the police are working hard to curb the problem, but he also urged the public to be vigilant and report criminal activities taking place near them.

Of course, snatch theft has always been a pretty worrisome issue in Malaysia: according to a report by Malaysian Digest, the authorities get an average of seven to eight police reports on snatch theft daily in 2016.

So guys, please be careful and take care of your belongings when you're out and about.
