Senior Minister (Security) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that massage and spa centres can resume operations beginning 1 July, Free Malaysia Today reported.

Ismail made the announcement during his press briefing on Friday (26 June).

Despite getting the green light to reopen their doors, massage parlours, spas and reflexology centers need to adhere to the strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) provided by the government.

Wellness centers must first register their businesses with their local councils before resuming operations, and all their employees must be screened for COVID-19 before being allowed to return to work.

On top of that, Ismail said only Malaysian employees are allowed to resume work, with foreign workers still barred for now.
