A new record has been created on YouTube.

The record for the music video that garnered over 100 million views within the first 24 hours of its premiere was made by Korean boy band BTS.

It was for their latest hit "Dynamite".


The video premiered on the platform on 20 August and managed to garner 101.1 million views in the first 24 hours.

The previous record-holder for most views within 24 hours was Blackpink's "How You Like That" music video, with 86.3 million views!

Mashable SEA reported that the band had initially teased the release of their new single, stressing the importance of getting music out to their fans as soon as possible.

"We have prepared a new single for ARMY, set for Aug. 21. We are preparing an album for the second half of this year, but decided to first release a single because we wanted to reach our fans as soon as possible," shared the boy band on Korean broadcasting app V LIVE.

The band also said due to the current pandemic, its high time they released something with good vibes and positivity.

"Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been going through tough times and we wanted to share some positive energy with our fans.”

BTS frontman RM said ‘Dynamite’ is made of positive vibes, energy, hope, love, purity and everything.
