The Covid-19 outbreak has stressed a lot of people out (especially our friends in Singapore), and the lack of a working cure certainly didn't help things.

Worry no more, because Chinese experts may have found a way to stop the spread of the virus.

Clinical trials successful

According to a report by Chinese news site Xinhua, Chinese experts have confirmed that Chloroquine Phosphate, an antimalarial drug, has a certain curative effect on the virus.

The report said that the conclusion was made after several clinical trials, and the experts have suggested that the drug be used in the next version of the treatment guidelines.

Quoting deputy head of the China National Center for Biotechnology Development under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Sun Yanrong, the report also said experts also want the drug applied in wider clinical trials as soon as possible.

Sun said the drug was selected from tens of thousands of existing drugs after multiple rounds of screening and it was used in clinical trials in over 10 hospitals in Beijing, Hunan and Guangdong Province.

The clinical trials showed that the patients who have taken Chloroquine Phosphate have shown better indicators than their parallel groups.

They reportedly showed reduced fever, improved CT images of lungs and shorter recovery time.
