A landlord in China has been kind enough to exempt his tenant’s rent for four years.

No, it’s not because his tenant could not afford the rent.

According to a report in Global Times, the landlord exempted the rent after the tenant’s child obtained a good score in gaokao (college entrance examinations).

The child apparently has received a high score of 608 in gaokao.

Encouraging a brilliant young mind

The family had stayed in the rented house for 10 years and the landlord never increased the rent in the period.

Exemption of the rent will begin this month and will last for four years when the child graduates from college.

The act got netizens singing praises on the landlord.

“Ten years without increasing rent has been admirable, not to mention the exemption of it for four years. This is so positive and encouraging,” said one user.

However, some said the landlord did it for fame, to which, the landlord said he just wanted to spur the child on.

He also clarified that the tenant's monthly rent was only 220 yuan (RM142) and the amount for four years is only about 10,000 yuan (RM6482).

What a kindhearted person!
