A university student and his girlfriend, an SPM candidate, who were detained after fleeing a police inspection in Kampung Rabbana, are believed to have not managed to engage in any immoral activity inside the car.
Earlier, the couple was arrested by police at around 3:30 PM that day after officers chased the Perodua Myvi they were driving.
Jeli District Police Chief, Superintendent Kamarulzaman Harun, said initial investigations revealed that the suspect, in his 20s, had picked up the girl in front of her school to go to Lata Renyut.

However, the man allegedly stopped the car by the roadside in Kampung Sungai Rual with the intention of having sexual relations with the teenager inside the vehicle.
“The teenage girl is believed to have consented to the act but was startled by the presence of police officers who were patrolling the area."
“Therefore, the police remind the public to avoid any sexual activity inside vehicles, whether in public areas or secluded places, as it can pose criminal risks and legal implications,” he said in a statement today.
Kamarulzaman added that the man will be re-arrested, and the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
