In today’s age where the cost of living is high, eating out can be quite taxing on a person’s finances.

The strain on the finances becomes worse if one is eating out in a large group of people, as the price of overall dishes can be up to RM1,000 or even more than that.

However, Restaurant Chai Por Hu in Alor Setar has kept its original prices over the years, even as prices of food increased and struggling to survive in the pandemic hit era.

Despite that some of the customers who visit the restaurant, still complain about the price of its food.

According to a report in Malay Mail quoting a report in AsiaOne, Restaurant Chai Por Hu’s owner, Samz Wong, recently took to Facebook to show his disappointment over a customer’s complaint that the food served in his eatery was “too expensive”.

The customer who came to eat in the restaurant along with eight others, ordered seven dishes including as pork ribs, kung pao prawns and braised tofu.

The total bill for the seven dishes was to RM148.40. Apparently, the customer was not happy with the price.

“Why do some people think it is expensive?

“Doesn’t anyone know about the rise in chicken prices, pork prices, cooking oil prices, imported food prices and plastic container prices?” Wong said, as quoted in the report.

Wong further said that RM150 was not even enough to purchase fish, meat, and vegetables at the market for nine people.

Wong added that he maintained the prices over the years to retain his customers.

We do think that the price of the seven dishes is very reasonable!
