Did You Know That Malaysia Has The 26th Fastest Internet In The World?

We have a lot of 'fastest things' in Malaysia – Asia’s fastest man, record-breaking Paralympians, our Mat Rempits, and probably the roti canai spinning in the air when the mamak is preparing it.

But there’s one thing that many of us refuse to believe is the fastest in our homeland – our internet.

According to The Speedtest Global Index, Malaysia is currently placed as the 26^th country in the world for having the fastest internet.

Our beloved nation even rose 10 spots compared to last month’s data.

A statement by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) cited that Malaysians now “enjoy significantly higher speeds.”

“The government has met its promise to reduce the fixed high-speed broadband prices by 25% by the end of 2018.”

As for mobile internet speed, Malaysia dropped two places to the 76^th spot.

The download speed for broadband is currently at 61.97 Mbps which is faster than the global average speed of 50.88 Mbps.

Well, despite being placed 26^th, a lot of Malaysians were facing problems with their internet over the weekend. Services for unifi, Streamyx and unifi Mobile were down since Saturday morning. You can read the full story here.
