The date has been set
According to a report by Malay Mail, Muslims in the country will celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha on Friday, 31 July.The date was announced by assistant secretary to the Conference of Rulers, Mohd Aseral Jusman, on Tuesday (21 July).
“In adherence to the command of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, following the consent of the Rulers, on behalf of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, I hereby declare that 1 Zulhijah 1441 Hijrah falls on July 22.
“As such, Aidiladha (10 Zulhijah) for the states in Malaysia will be on Friday, 31 July, 2020,” he was quoted as saying.
Hari Raya Aidiladha, also known as Eid al-Adha or Eid Qurban, is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year.
Aidiladha is considered the holier of the two celebrations, as it honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command.
To honour the sacrifices, there will be a sacrificial slaughter of cows, also known as korban, carried out at mosques all around the country.
A percentage of the meat from the animals are often donated to poor and needy families.
