DUPLICATE - Kuala Lumpur Ranks In The Top 50 In Safe Cities Index 2021 List
Despite what's been going on in the country, Malaysia in general is pretty safe.
And we have the validation to prove it.
Middle of the pack across the board
Kuala Lumpur has been placed in the top 50 of the Safe Cities Index 2021 list.According to a report by Malay Mail, the country's capital was ranked 32nd in this year's list, which is slightly better compared to 2019.
The list, released by The Economist Intelligence Unit (The EIU), compiled the rankings of 60 cities around the world based on 76 indicators covering digital, health, infrastructure, personal and environmental security.
The EIU, in its report, said Kuala Lumpur’s overall points were 66.6 out of 100, good for 32nd place.
Copenhagen topped the list with 82.4 points, followed by Toronto at 82.2 points, Singapore at 80.7, Sydney at 80.1 and Tokyo at 80.0.
Breaking down the rankings, the report said under the digital security pillar, Sydney came out tops followed by Singapore, Copenhagen, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Under this category, Kuala Lumpur was ranked 35th.
When it comes to the health security pillar, Tokyo was ranked first, followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Osaka. Kuala Lumpur was ranked 38th under this category.
While Kuala Lumpur only managed to come up in the middle of the pack in many of the indicators, there's one bright spot for the city: it made the top ten in the environmental security indicator.
KL scored 80 points to sit at tenth place, after Wellington, Toronto, Washington DC, Bogota and Milan.
Looks like there are plenty of things Malaysia can improve on.
