On Duty Cop Caught Making Lewd Gestures Towards Female Photographer, PDRM Launches Probe
A female photographer went through an unfortunate incident after she caught a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer making lewd gestures at her on camera.
The incident reportedly happened while the photographer was taking photos at a humanitarian protest for Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen last week.
Another officer witnessed the situation and just laughed.
Taking to Instagram to share her experience, the photographer, known as Intan, wrote that the officer who bore the name tag ‘Faris’ purposely repeated the gestures a few times, to make sure she saw him.
“I was standing alone at the stairs of the pedestrian overpass, so it was definitely directed towards me. The officer next to him witnessed this and just laughed,” she wrote.
Reportedly, Intan had lodged a police report regarding the incident at IPD Dang Wangi.
PDRM is conducting an internal investigation
Meanwhile, in an interview with BERNAMA, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rushdi Mohd Isa said his team has identified the police officer involved and that they have launched an investigation.
Social media outrage
Unsurprisingly, many social media users condemned the officer's action. One user also shared her similar encounter with a police officer who allegedly behaved inappropriately at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
