If you miss hanging out at your favourite mamak restaurant, leisurely enjoying a few cups of teh tarik and roti canai, you'd be happy to know that starting Wednesday (10 June), you can take your time enjoying your meal.

The government has decided to allow eateries and convenience stores to remain open until 12 am everyday as we enter Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) phase.

Requests from restaurants

Security Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri made the announcement during his daily press conference on Tuesday (9 June).

He said that after reviewing requests from those running food businesses and convenience stores, the government has decided to allow the extended operation time.

"However, social distancing and other SOPs that has been put in place must be followed fully," he said.

Ismail Sabri also announced that all the stores at R&R areas on highways will be allowed to operate as well.

R&R will be allowed to open since travel across states is also allowed
Surau located at R&Rs will also be allowed to be opened. This also applies to prayer rooms in shopping complexes.

Besides the reopening of eateries, convenience stores and prayer rooms, Ismail also announced that the National Zoo and zoos run by states will also be allowed to reopen beginning 10 June.

Looks like things are getting back to normal but stay vigilant, guys.

Practice social distancing whenever possible, wear masks and continue practicing good hygiene.
