You know how sometimes things could change or a table would turn in a matter of seconds?

Well, an enforcement officer in Kelantan recently went through that.

Clear breach of SOP

Pot calling the kettle black?
The unnamed officer, who fined a petty trader recently, is now a subject of a potential fine himself after a photograph of him conducting his duty without a face mask went viral on social media.

According to Malaysiakini, the officer from the Pasir Mas Municipal Council violated the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government when he failed to wear a face mask when issuing the fine to the trader.

A Facebook user, who goes by the name of Muhammad Firdaus, uploaded a photograph of the enforcement officer issuing him a fine for operating a roadside stall without a proper permit.

Muhammad Firdaus noted that the officer has also violated SOPs by not wearing a face mask, and the internet agreed with him as the photograph went viral on Facebook.

A police report was subsequently lodged.

Pasir Mas District police headquarters chief Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir told the news portal that the enforcement officer is now being investigated by the police.

"The photograph, which showed the officer conducting his duty without a face mask, had caused dissatisfaction in the local community.

"The suspect is an enforcement officer with the Pasir Mas Municipal Council had was issuing compounds on petty traders who weren't supposed to operate near Masjid Beijing in Rantau Panjang," Nasaruddin was quoted as saying, adding that the police were trying to tracking down the officer to facilitate investigations.

It's been more than a year that we're in this new normal, and yet there are people who are still violating the SOPs. We hope that the enforcement officer would learn his lesson.
