Do you have curious kids at home, trying hard to find out why they can't go out anymore?

Try introducing ‘Engkaulah Adiwiraku’ to them.

According to a Malay Mail report, the book, which is a translation of ‘My Hero is You, How kids can fight COVID-19!’ helps kids understand the COVID-19 pandemic better and prepares them to manage their emotions in a new reality.

The book is the result of a collaboration of over 50 international organisations working in the humanitarian sector and was initiated by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings.

It is also a project done in cooperation with the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Save the Children.

For kids better understand what's happening

Aimed at children between the ages of six to 11-years-old, the book revolves around the main character Ario, who explains how children can protect themselves, their families and friends from the virus.

The Malay version was the work of Consultant public health physician and Health Ministry disease control division (non-communicable disease section) deputy director Dr Feisul Idzwan Mustapha.

He said that although children are less likely to be infected by COVID-19, many are affected emotionally by the drastic change, mainly due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“Some may become scared and confused as they do not really understand the changes that are happening around them due to the outbreak.”.

He said that this was the reason why he reached out to the publisher to volunteer to do the Bahasa Melayu (BM) translation.

To date, the book has been translated into eight languages including French and Chinese.
