Everything You Need To Know About Proton's First Ever SUV - The X70!
Bigger is better, right?
Ever since local carmaker Proton partnered up with Chinese company Geely in 2017, we've been waiting for the first child from that marriage.
You don't have to wait much longer, guys.
Proton's first ever SUV, the X70, is reportedly set to be launch in a couple of weeks' time.

According to Proton's website, the X70 is co-developed by Geely and Proton, so Malaysians can expect a whole tonne of tech and features to come with it.
Because we are excellent Googlers journalists, we scour the internet for more information about the spanking new SUV so that you don't have to.
Here's all you need to know about Proton's first car since 2016's Proton Ertiga:
The Boyue was launched back in March 2016 in China and has since become of the country's best-selling SUV. The X70 is based on the facelifted version of the Boyue, so Malaysians can expect almost the same specs in the local version.
#1 It's based on Geely's Boyue SUV

On the exterior, however, the design team reportedly made some aesthetic changes - like a unique winged grill and a harimau Malaya-inspired daytime running lights (DRL), just to name a few - to differentiate the X70 from the Boyue.
#2 The name was picked through an online contest

If you're thinking that the name has some significant meaning to it - like, the 'X' stands for Xpensive and '70' means it took 70 years to make - well, you'll be sorely disappointed. According to The Sun Daily, the name X70 was chosen from a total of 89,800 submissions through an online contest.
The name 'X70' will make the car more 'universal', so that people in other countries can pronounce it (unlike the Prevé). As for the meaning of the name, the 'X' in the name stands for 'crossover' while the number '70' denotes the class or size of the vehicle. Sorry guys, the name didn't come from another realm.
#3 It comes in four variants

The Proton X70 comes in three trim levels (Standard, Premium and Executive) and four variants: Standard 2WD, Executive 2WD, Executive AWD and Premium 2WD.
All variants of the vehicle boast a six-speed automatic transmission and will run on a 1.8 litre TGDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which is capable of producing 181hp and 285Nm of torque. It's nothing to shout about, but it still has enough power for you to overtake the pesky Myvi that's hogging the fast lane.
#4 It boasts some crazy new tech

We know you've been complaining about the lack of tech and features in some of Proton's latest models, but you won't have this problem with the Proton X70. The list of tech in the new model is insane!
On top of the usual autonomous emergency braking, tyre pressure monitoring system, and adaptive cruise control, the X70 also boasts a Smart Air Purifier system, a Smartphone Remote Control feature, a 360-degree camera and get this, a voice recognition support that reportedly understands Manglish!
And yes, in case you're wondering, you'll also get USB charging ports in front and at the back.
