Family of Six Trapped in House Fire, Three Dead
Just recently, our nation mourned the death of a family who perished in a house fire at Subang Jaya. This morning, we woke up to another devastating house fire death involving a family of six in Kepong.
The incident took place at Jalan Wangsa 2/4, Taman Wangsa Permai at around 11.20pm last night. Two children and one woman died after being trapped inside the house. They were identified as Lam Yan Yi, seven; Ng Zi Xuan, 10; and and foreign woman Sok Srey, 29.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations), Mohd Sani Harul, told the New Straits Times that they “received a call on the incident at 11.20pm and dispatched 20 firemen from the Sungai Buloh and Selayang stations to the scene”.
According to Sani, 80% of the ground floor of the house was razed by the fire. The team managed to rescue three victims, who only escaped with burns. It was uncertain where the bodies of the three victims were found. The cause of the fire is still pending investigation.
