Restoran Minah in Penang is doing a good deed during this Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

The famous restaurant has opened a food bank for those who are going hungry.



According to a report in Malay Mail, the restaurant’s food bank initiative has benefitted many elderly people.

“Most of the recipients are elderly, disabled and single mothers who have collected dry food items such as rice, oil, canned food and drinks.

“It is also easier to store dry food items in the fridge as many of them can be stored for days,” the owner’s son Ahmad Danial Muhammad Noor told the daily.

Coming together to help

He said that the initiative has also received interest from his friends who on their part have handed in food items and even cash to help out.

Sadly, Ahmad Daniel said many of the food bank recipients have also approached them to be hired as workers in the restaurant, but they had to be turned down due to the restaurant’s financial struggle during the pandemic.
