Yesterday, the whole nation was stunned by the news of a 15-year-old school girl who was abducted right in front of her house at 7am when she was waiting for her chartered school van to pick her up.
Two males on a motorcycle abducted Nur Darleen Dazeera Azhar, an SMK Bandar Tun Hussein Onn student yesterday morning. The chartered van driver and her friends witnessed the incident but they unfortunately could not react in time. A police report was lodged and a hunt for the missing girl was immediately launched.
About seven hours after the news of her kidnapping went viral, her classmate and her family spotted Nur Darleen still clad in her school uniform near a hypermarket by the roadside at 2.20pm.
Juliana Jeffri, 42, was driving with her daughter when they found the teenager. “I was just telling the girls that it’s not safe to walk around alone like that when my daughter yelled out that it was Darleen,” she told NST.
After finding out who the girl was, she immediately turned her car around and stopped next to Darleen. They persuaded her to get into the car to send her home. She eventually got into the car and they made their way to Darleen’s home. Darleen kept on trembling and crying throughout the journey.
Today, police has identified the first suspect, a 25-year-old jobless man. Kajang police chief, ACP Othman Nayan said that the suspect was not living far from the victim.
"We will identify the second suspect once we arrest the first. We are not ruling out that the victim may know her abductors.
“We urge the public not to make any speculation, as we are still investigating the case," he told reporters after attending the 1Aman Week: Police and Community Together As One event at the Putra International Convention Centre.
