The deadly coronavirus that has so far killed hundreds of people and infected thousands more is not something to joke about.
However, this one man thought it would be a good idea to joke about it...on a plane...mid-flight!
Yep, it's definitely a recipe for disaster.
According to a report by Business Insider, a passenger in the Westjet flight to Montego Bay in Jamaica decided to make a coronavirus joke, and for some strange reason, announced in the flight carrying 243 passengers that he had contracted the virus.
The report said that halfway through the four-hour flight, the 29-year-old man from Thornhill, Ontario allegedly stood up and took selfies with other passengers while declaring that he had contracted the virus.
No thanks to the man's stupid idea of a joke, the flight was diverted to Toronto.
"Out of an abundance of caution, our crew followed all protocols for infectious disease on board, including sequestering an individual who made an unfounded claim regarding coronavirus," the flight’s spokesperson Morgan Bell told the news portal.
Flight attendants then reportedly gave him a mask and gloves, and ordered him to sit at the back of the plane.
He was later arrested and has been charged with mischief. According to the news portal, the man is scheduled to appear in court on 9 March.
Guys, these kinda sick jokes are not funny, OK? You could end up in jail!
