We've heard of people dining and dashing, but one man allegedly took things a step further by putting his own body hair in his food to avoid paying the bill.
In a bizarre incident believed to have occurred on 4 October at a restaurant along Persiaran Gurney in Penang, a restaurant manager identified only as Cheng said a couple of foreign nationals had initially wanted to order fried chicken. However, after being told the dish was sold out, they settled for char koay teow, an egg and a drink instead.

The foreign man later complained about finding hair in his char koay teow.
"After examining it, I found that something was amiss. If the hair had really been in the char koay teow, it should have been oily, but the hair we found was dry."
According to reports, there were six to seven strands of hair in the dish. Cheng also claimed the hair was very short and did not resemble eyelashes.
The couple then got up to leave while Cheng and his staff were examining the food. When informed that they had not paid, the man allegedly refused, insisting that he would not pay for contaminated food.
CCTV footage allegedly reveals what happened
It is understood that after the couple left, Cheng reviewed the restaurant's CCTV footage. He allegedly saw the man reaching inside his shirt before pulling out what appeared to be his own chest hair. The man then allegedly placed the hair on the plate before bringing it to a staff member and lodging a complaint.
The couple's bill reportedly came to about RM30.
Cheng said he has since shared the CCTV footage with other restaurant operators in the area to warn them about the couple.
