Former PM Najib Razak Found Guilty For Abuse Of Power, Full Verdict Still Being Read
The court is still reading out the full verdict for the case involving former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak relating to the first in a series of cases involving the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.
The High Court on Tuesday (27 July) found Najib guilty for the first count of abuse of power.
"In conclusion, in my judgment, having considered all the evidence presented in this court, I find that the defence has not succeeded in rebutting the presumption on the balance of probabilities or raising reasonable doubt against the accused under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act," said Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali as reported by The Star.

The charges
The 67-year-old was charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT), three counts of money laundering and one count of abuse of power, for his involvement in the RM42mil misappropriated from SRC International Sdn Bhd, a 1MDB subsidiary.The 1MDB saga shook the nation and brought about the downfall of Najib, as well as Barisan Nasional during the previous general elections.
The case against Najib was over RM42 million found in his personal account, which he maintained he did not know was from SRC International Sdn Bhd.
On July 2018, he was charged for Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT) and later money laundering involving the money in his personal bank account.
According to reports, Najib was "shocked" to find the money in his account but didn't make any police reports as the matter was already being investigated by relevant authorities.
Najib is now facing 20 years of jail for each CBT charge, and 15 years of jail for each money laundering charge.
