Last week, Annuar Musa and his Federal Territories Ministry received praises from Malaysians after providing the homeless in KL with shelter, food, and even haircuts during the MCO.

However, some Malaysians have wondered what fate of these homeless folks may be after the MCO is lifted, and whether anything can be done to give them the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Well, wonder no more because the homeless will now be given training and jobs once the MCO is over, reported Free Malaysia Today.

Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said they will be vetted and given training so that they can take up jobs as general workers by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) or as production operators in factories.

Over 800 homeless people are expected to be employed in this programme.

“After the MCO ends, we do not want them to wander in the streets anymore. We will give them two options – to take up jobs as general workers or production operators.

“They are expected to start work on 1 May, if the MCO does not extend beyond the end of April,” Annuar said.

Many Malaysians were happy with the news and applauded the ministry for putting in the effort into helping the homeless.

Let's hope they'll be back on their feet soon.

The Ketereh MP has also instructed DBKL to come up with a plan so that the homeless community will not have to live on the streets anymore.

The ministry estimates that the homeless will be paid between RM1,200 to RM1,400 once employed.
