‘Geng Basikal Lajak’ Caught in Roadblock, Cops Make Them Do ‘Ketuk Ketampi’ Squats as Punishment
A group of teenagers went viral when a video showing them being punished with ketuk ketampi squats by traffic police officers was shared online.
It is reported that the viral incident happened on New Year's Eve after the teenagers, aged 14 to 17, were caught in a roadblock at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Kuala Lumpur.
According to Sinar Harian, the teens were riding basikal lajak (modified bicycles) that lacked safety features such as brakes, bells and lights. They were also riding dangerously and engaging in competitive behaviour.

However, a senior Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation Enforcement Department (JSPT) officer and a JPJ officer opted to issue a stern warning and discipline the teens by making them do ketuk ketampi.
After the teens were done, they apologised and the cops instructed them to return home immediately.
“Their parents should be told to do ketuk ketampi too.”
In the comment section, many agreed with how the police handled the situation, while others criticised parents who let their kids out late at night.
“Kudos to PDRM. A great method of prevention and teaching. Keep it up PDRM and JPJ.”

“Their parents should be brought to the police station. How could they let their kids ride illegal basikal lajak. Plus, it's at nighttime. Some parents even dare to sue the police for punishing their kids this way. Parents like this should be punished too.”
