Genting’s New Cable Cars Are Not For The Faint-Hearted

If taking the cable car up to Genting Highlands wasn’t nerve-wrecking before, their brand new gondolas will definitely make your heart race.

Resorts World Genting’s brand new state-of-the-art cable car system, the Awana Skyway, is now officially open to the public.

The Awana Skyway, located at the new Awana Transportation Hub, now offers a faster – and more thrilling, for sure – way for guests to make their way up to Genting Highlands.

According to Resorts World, the 99 new gondolas are able to ferry up to 3,000 passengers every hour – ten per gondola each trip. The gondolas have a max top speed of six meters per second, so the 2.8km climb from the Transportation Hub to the final stop, the SkyAvenue station, will take just 10 minutes.

Well, then the glass-floor gondola is just the thing for you. The bottom half of the French-made cable car is made entirely of glass, so now you can get a breath-taking view of the 130-million-year-old rainforest below.

Here’s an added bonus: each cable car is fitted with two USB ports, allowing you to charge your mobile devices during your ride up.

Tickets for the regular gondola go for RM8 per person, while it costs RM50 if you want to experience the glass-floor cable car.
