The 2019 Southeast Asian Games, or better known as the SEA Games, recently got off to a grand start in Manila, Philippines.
All eyes are on our national athletes as they look to bring home as many gold medals as they can.
#TeamMalaysia, here we go! Needless to say, our expectations are high simply because Malaysia won the most gold medals (145) at the last SEA Games held in Kuala Lumpur in 2017.
However, just two days into the current SEA Games, which kicked off on 30 November, Malaysian athletes have been delivering gold medal after gold medal.
Here’s a snippet of the gold medals (11) that we have won to date:

Loh Choon How (Wushu)

Loh brought home Malaysia's first gold. Wushu exponent Loh Choon How started the ball rolling with Malaysia’s first gold of the Games in the men’s taijiquan event by collecting 9.68 points overall at the competition held at the World Trade Center in Manila.
Loh Choon How completed a grand Taiji double at the 2019 SEA Games when he triumphed in the men's Taijijian (taiji sword) for his second gold.

Lego Sam Lee Jek (Break Dance)

Break dancing is a new event, and we got a gold. Dancer Lego Sam Lee Jek delivered Malaysia’s second goal in the Boys' Break Dance event that took place at the Royce Hotel and Casino ballroom in Clark.

Nationaol polo team (Polo)

Horsepower. The national polo team retained their gold for the third consecutive time, defeating hosts and favourites the Philippines 7-5.5 in a dramatic final at the Miguel L Romero Polo Ground in Batangas, near Manila.
Malaysia was SEA Games polo champion in Korat, Thailand, in 2007, before defending the gold at home in Kuala Lumpur in 2017.

Julian Yee (Ice skating)

Julian bags another gold medal. National ice-skater Julian Yee Zhi Yi delivered the gold medal on Monday (2 December) in the free skating event at SM Megamall, ending the competition with a total score of 202.64 points.

Farah Ann (Gymnastic)

Gymnastic darling brings home the gold. Gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi won Malaysia another gold medal at the SEA Games. The 25-year-old bagged the gold in the individual all-around of the women’s artistic gymnastics competition at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

National netball team (Netball)

Netball team showing them who's boss. Malaysia retained its netball gold after beating Singapore 48-42 in a closely contested final at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex.

Taqiyuddin-Hamid-Sazzlan Yuga (Pencak Silat)

The best duo of all time! The terrific duo delivered victory in the ganda putra (doubles) category in the Pencak Silat event.

National lawn bowl team (Lawn bowl)

Bowling over the competition. Lawn bowlers won three of four gold medals on offer for the sports in Manila SEA Games. The first gold came from women’s fours through Siti Zalina Ahmad, Afiqah Dayana Budiman, Nur Ain Nabilah Tarmizi and Syafiqah Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman, who defeated host nation Philippines 17-6 in the final at CDC Lot Friendship Gate.
Emma Firyana Saroji and Nurul Alyani Jamil added gold No 2 in the women’s pairs, beating Brunei 21-14.
Men’s triples team of Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple, Fairus Abdul Jabal dan Syamil Syazwan Ramli capped a brilliant day for the squad by overcoming Philippines 14-8.
