RD Minion 10/06/2019 | 07:13 MYT
Our para athletes have done the country proud yet again.
In one of their latest achievement, national recurve archer S. Suresh won the gold medal at the 2019 World Archery Para Championships and at the same time, made the history books by becoming Malaysia’s first world champion in para archery.
According to a report in The New Straits Times, the 25-year-old from Kedah defeated Eric Bennett from the United States, who also happened to be the 2015 world champion, in the final held in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
The last Malaysian to win a medal at the world event was the Salam Sidik, who won bronze in 2011.
With the win, S. Suresh also booked his spot in next year’s Tokyo Paralympics. Killing two birds with one stone, we see.
Congratulations, S. Suresh! We're extremely proud of you!
