If you're a student, teacher or lecturer and are planning to head back to a different state to continue with classes, we've got some good news.

After discussions with the government, Malaysia Airlines has agreed to offer a 20% discount on all domestic flight tickets for the group.

Helping those who need it.

According to New Straits Times, the move was meant to ease the financial burden for the group as classes slowly resume after the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who announced the matter said that the discounts would include ticket bookings made by this group from July 9 to Aug 10.

The travelling period would be between July 10 to Nov 30.

Hoping for more airlines to offer similar promotions

"As I have previously mentioned, the special ministers' meeting had asked the Malaysian Aviation Commission to present the matter to the committee."

"The government had suggested that special prices for air tickets are offered to students, teachers and lecturers to return to their workplace and higher education institutions, as well as teachers working in Sabah and Sarawak to travel from Peninsular Malaysia; and vice versa. The Aviation Commission was asked to discuss this with the airlines," he said.

Hoping for more airlines to offer discounts.

Ismail Sabri thanked Malaysia Airlines for the discounts and hoped that more airlines would make similar considerations.

Discounts for teacher and lecturers would be available using an online booking code which will be announced by the Education Ministry and the Higher Education Ministry.

For students, they would need to become a member of the Malaysia Airlines' MH Explorer program to enjoy the 20% discount.
