Goodbye, Tam: Malaysia's Last Male Sumatran Rhino Dies
If the Sumatran rhinos aren't already extinct, we're getting there.
Tam, Malaysia's last male Sumatran rhino, has died on May 27, The Star reported.
The rhino has been suffering from several health complications for a while, according to the news portal.
Although the news came as no surprise to those who have been keeping up to date with his fate, it is still a sad day for the country.

However, without a male rhino, the chances of having a new generation of that particular species of rhino is next to none.

With constant deforestation, the chances of the species to recover from near extinction is slim without drastic actions.
Other rhino species in the world are also facing similar fate, with the Javanese rhinos being as close to extinction as their Sumatran friends.
