Recently, Rojak Daily reported how Indonesia has decided to push back its Idul Fitri (Aidilfitri) collective leave to December due to concerns about people travelling back to their hometowns especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Now, Malaysia is also looking into the possibility of deferring its public holidays for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

The Star, quoting Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, reported that the government will decide on the matter after consulting Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of religious affairs.

Considerations made for prayer times as well

“It will not just be about Hari Raya but also on other matters such as the terawih prayers (special prayers performed during the nights of Ramadan) that the minister will discuss and propose."

“So, let’s wait for what he has to say. Let us start fasting first,” said Ismail Sabri.

Indonesia has postponed its Idul Fitri holidays to Dec 28 until 31 to stop the mass movement of its people during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Let’s see what the government decides on this as Hari Raya Aidilfitri is not far along now.
