Despite a news report claiming that Malaysia has one of the fastest internet connections in Asia Pacific, we Malaysians know that's simply not the case.Don't worry; the new government is aware of that too.
The new Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday that the government will be working on improving the internet speed in Malaysia.
Gobind told The Edge that doubling the speed of internet broadband services is at the top of the Ministry's list of things to tackle first because Malaysians are not entirely happy with the quality of the internet.
"If we look at broadband in other countries, the service provided differs greatly from what we (Malaysia) have, so there is no reason why we cannot emulate other systems from overseas,” he was quoted by the news portal as saying.
The 44-year-old also promised that the Ministry would find a way to make broadband internet cheaper for the masses.
