Do you often use the Grab service in the wee hours of the morning due to work commitment or other reasons?

If you do, you should take note of this new development!

The popular e-hailing company has recently disabled its cash bookings in early morning hours, specifically between 2am and 6am.

The Star Online, quoting a press release by Grab, said the decision was made for the safety of its drivers and passengers.

Grab said that its internal data revealed that crimes are reported four times more at night compared to during the day.

“Moreover, in the past year, up to 99 per cent of all incidents occurred on cash bookings,” it said.

Time to link a credit card, boys and girls!
So, as part of the updates relating to passenger and driver-partner’s safety, you can only use the GrabPay wallet or a debit/credit card if you need to use Grab during those off-peak hours.

However, do note that JustGrab (from Airport) and GrabCar Exec (to and from Airport) bookings will not be affected.

And here's another thing to note though: Grab has also recently announced that they have started implementing, in stages, cashless rides across the Klang Valley.

Those of you who have yet to link a debit or credit card to your Grab account, it is time to do so.
