The duty of police officers is to make us feel safe and protect us in case of any mishap.

However, a group of policemen have gone beyond the call of their duties.

Yes, a group of police officers from Alor Janggus, Kedah, have initiated a programme called ‘MPV Bonnet Programme’ to supply food to needy families in the neighbourhood.

“Whenever we see a family suffering financially, we fork out our own money and give it to them there and then itself.

“I believe that it is important to always help those in need especially for us — the men in blue,” Alor Janggus police corporal Nornizam Nordin told Malay Mail.

Building a relationship

Nornizam said other than helping the villagers, what was important for them was building their trust.

“We want the villagers to know that we (the police) play an important role in maintaining public order.

“Most people are generally afraid of the police, but what we want to do is to change that stereotype and to build trust between the villagers and us.”

Bless these policemen!
