When was the last time you pushed your physical limits for a good cause?

A group of 20 volunteers will be doing just that this Merdeka.

MAKNA
The National Cancer Council Malaysia (MAKNA) is celebrating the country’s 60th national day with a climb to the summit of Mount Kinabalu.

‘Klimb Kinabalu Fight Against Cancer’ is an annual expedition held since 2012 to raise awareness on cancer and encourage people to live an active lifestyle.

MAKNA
A MAKNA spokesperson told the New Straits Times that there will be two cancer survivors who will be joining the climb this year.

The non-profit organisation is targeting to raise RM150,000 from the climb to assist cancer patients in areas in areas such as surgical equipment, liquid food supplements, prostheses and prescribed drugs.

MAKNA
Funds raised from this initiative will also be used to help young cancer survivors with scholarships to pursue their tertiary education.

Let’s cheer on the group as they proudly wave the Jalur Gemilang at over 4,000 metres above sea level!
