Guess Where Malaysia Ranked In World's Most Peaceful Country List

Sure, we may occasionally get countries' flags wrong, but there's one thing we're doing right - world peace.

NGO Vision of Humanity has just released its annual Global Peace Index, and we're proud to report that Malaysia did not fare too badly last year.

In this year's rankings, we were placed 29th out of 163 countries in the world - just above Qatar, Croatia and Latvia.

This marks a one-spot improvement from the year before, where we placed 30th.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup told The New Straits Times that the improvement can be credited to a drop in criminal cases.

(That's a little odd, considering that Malaysia is placed fourth highest among Asian countries in Numbeo's 2017 Crime Index List)

Anyway, Malaysia is one of only two South-East Asian countries to crack the top 30 of the 2017 Global Peace Index.

Our neighbour Singapore was ranked 21st in the list.

In case you were wondering, Iceland is still the most peaceful country in the world - a position it has held since 2008.

In fact, Iceland is so peaceful, they do not have an army since 1969!
