With more and more Malaysians getting their vaccinations as days wear on, we are slowly heading towards normalcy.

To help Malaysians lead a more 'normal' life, the government will be lifting restrictions on several economic activities.

Time for a haircut!

On Sunday (15 August), Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin revealed that 11 types of economic activities will be allowed to operate under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

The 11 types of businesses are allowed to open beginning Monday (16 August), Muhyiddin said.

However, there's a small catch: these states must have at least 50 per cent of their population to be fully vaccinated as a required condition.

On top of that, only fully vaccinated Malaysians are allowed to patronise these businesses.

"Therefore, individuals who have completed their vaccinations in the Klang Valley can benefit from these facilities when these businesses resume operations," he was quoted as saying.

Here are the 11 types of businesses allowed to reopen:

1. Barbers and beauty salons (for basic haircuts only)
2. Car wash
3. Electrical and electronics
4. Household goods and kitchen utensils
5. Furniture stores
6. Sports equipment
7. Car accessories stores
8. Car distribution and sales
9. Morning markets and pasar tani
10. Clothing and fashion accessories
11. Jewellery stores

Of course, strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) still apply, including wearing of face masks and maintaining physical distancing.

Malaysians must also remember to produce a digital vaccination certificate before entering the premises.

If you've been longing for a haircut or give your car some tender loving care, your time has come.
