Every Malaysian knows Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who served as Malaysia's fourth and seventh prime minister. He held office from 1981 to 2003 and from 2018 to February 2020 for a cumulative total of 24 years, making him the country's longest-serving prime minister. He was born on 10 July 1925, which makes him 99 years old, only one year short of being a century old, making him living Malaysian history.
Many Malaysians took to social media to wish the nonagenarian a Happy Birthday, and some had epic tweets. Read our compilation of the best:
Several keen-eyed Malaysians noticed that Lego is for those aged 4-99, which technically means he will be too old to play next year. However, the man’s brain is so sharp that we’re sure he can build Lego sets better than us.

Malaya, then under British administration, was gradually occupied by Japanese forces between 8 December 1941 and the Allied surrender at Singapore on 15 February 1942. The Japanese remained in occupation until their surrender to the Allies in 1945. As we said, Tun M was born in 1925, and when the Japanese occupied Malaya, he was a teenager.

Another joked that the late Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew and the late Queen Elizabeth II, who passed in 2015 and 2022 respectively, were jealous that Mahathir is 99 and still healthy.

One tweeted à la Jay Z that Mahathir’s got 99 problems but the prime ministership ain’t one. As you may know, the former PM is still very much active in the political scene.
Another wrote, “I’m convinced I’m closer to death than this guy is.” Tun M is known for being careful with his diet, and avoids carbohydrates and fatty food.
