Besides renewing your passport and checking SOPs and mask requirements for specific countries, what should be on top of your list is knowing whether the Immigration Department of Malaysia would allow you to cross our country’s borders. Even if you don’t have any big time business dealings with the bank, you might have unpaid student loans that you haven’t taken care of.
Make sure to check your status if you’ve been blacklisted by any of the following agencies before making any concrete plans to avoid disappointment:
- Employees Provident Fund (EPF)
- National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN)
- Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)
- Royal Malaysian Customs (Business tax)
- The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM)
- Inland Revenue Board (IRB)
- Insolvency department, National Registration Department (NRD
- Court Order
How to check if you're blacklisted at Jabatan Imigresen's Website
All you have to do is to visit the Immigration Department of Malaysia’s official website.
Simply enter your I.C. number and click ‘semak’ or ‘check’. If there are no issues, the words ‘Keputusan Semakan: Tiada Halangan’ will appear in green. If you’ve been blocked, the letters will appear in red stating ‘Sila Rujuk Ke Pejabat Imigresen’ or ‘please refer to the immigration office’.

Unfortunately this option isn’t available for Apple users, but if you’d rather have an app for you to check conveniently and frequently on your Android phone, you can download the myIMIv2 application from the Play Store. With the app, you can also check the latest updates and information from the Immigration Department.
