Here’s What to Do If Your Farm Fresh Milk Tastes or Smells Weird

In this economy, every cent counts, right? At some time or another, we have probably encountered products that have gone bad even though they’ve been recently purchased and are still within their expiry date. Instead of throwing them away and wasting your precious ringgit, X user @sirennextdoor shares what to do.

The viral tweet, which has 1.7 million views as of this writing, showed a user pouring out a bottle of Farm Fresh chocolate milk, which had a slime-like consistency but still hadn’t expired.

In response to the tweet, @sirennextdoor shared what to do if your newly bought Farm Fresh milk tastes, smells, or has a weird texture.

  1. Look at the packaging label and call the number shown there.
  2. The company will WhatsApp you to share the expiry details and ask where you bought it from.
  3. Depending on your purchase, sometimes they will send a replacement or refund directly to the bank account number you provided.
  4. A refund takes two to three weeks, but replacements are usually processed quicker if they still provide that option.
The X user shared that there is no need to worry if the seal has already been opened because if the purchased milk tastes weird before its expiry date, they will definitely issue a refund. She emphasised the importance of calling, not emailing, or using other communication channels because they get back to you on the same day.

Don’t cry over spilled (spoilt) milk

She explained that she received a refund from Farm Fresh in May while receiving a replacement two years ago. She went on to say that she still buys Farm Fresh because their milk is the most delicious she’s ever tasted, and her lactose-intolerant tummy can still drink it with no issues.

She also shared proof of a refund she received on June 6 for a two-litre bottle of milk that her husband bought. She urged people to be savvy consumers, to capitalise on their rights, and to complain politely.

According to her, they didn’t ask for proof of a receipt, and she said that she supposed that they track their milk batches well to know if they get similar complaints about problematic batches.

Other X users shared similar experiences with other brands, saying that Dutch Lady and HwaTai (biscuit company) also provided great customer service. One user even noted that the boss would email back in the early days. Another shared that there was no need to make such matters viral to shame the company when encountering the issue, but to do so directly to their Customer Service team.
