Home Minister Fears That A New COVID-19 Cluster Would Be Triggered If Parliament Reconvenes
In today’s episode of “Menteri Buat Apa Hari Ini”, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin made a statement that angered netizens.
The Larut MP addressed why the Parliament isn’t in session at the moment, and his answer will make you go 'huh?'.
Read on.
Fear of new cluster

“There are groups that want Parliament to open. This is the scenario, when there is a sitting, at least 1,000 people will be there, from MPs, to their officers, government officers, Parliament staff and others, he told the English daily.
“This can create a hotspot (for COVID-19). This is what we want to avoid, a cluster at Parliament.”
“If everyone gets vaccinated, then there will be herd immunity. When that happens, Parliament can be opened, gatherings can take place,” he added.
Malaysians not happy with the explanation
His explanation, however, didn’t sit well with netizens and several politicians on Twitter.
Dulu kita ada Ahmad Maslan. Sekarang ada Hamzah Zainuddin pula. https://t.co/3zdHseJuO4— Azwa Ismail (@azwaismail) June 4, 2021
If Parliament cannot because of cluster, then factories should be shut. If virtual parliament cannot, schools should be closed with no online learning. The stupidity of Hamzah Zainuddin is astounding, and all this while he's talking about going after anti-vaxxers. https://t.co/58yeY4T6kn— ☭ (@dhirajgill1) June 4, 2021

No parliamentary and state assembly sittings, general election, state or by-elections will be held during the Emergency period.
But considering that almost every politician have completed their vaccination process, do you think the parliament should reconvene soon?
