If You Are Working More Than 8 Hours A Day, You'll Probably Go Crazy Or Die Soon!
Do you find yourself clocking in more than eight hours of work consistently almost every day? If your answer is yes, then you might want to pay extra attention to this article.
According to a report by the New Straits Times, there is a worrying trend on the rise where employees are working more than 12 hours per day or 60 hours per week due to either the working demands of employers or employees who are seeking extra money.
This is clearly a breach of the The Employment Act 1955, which states that only under certain circumstances that employees can work an extra 10 hours per week.
Extra hours might mean additional pay, but there is one thing that isn’t paying off – the unhealthy working ethics are actually putting workers at risk of developing mental diseases as well as increasing the chances of an early death.

Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) president Abdul Halim Mansor told the English daily that the union is working on an appeal to the government to amend the law for the wellbeing and welfare of Malaysian employees.
“The Human Resources Ministry must remind employers that the act must be honoured and cannot be simply tweaked by irresponsible people, who are concerned with output only," Abdul Halim told the New Straits Times.
“Prolonged overtime is unhealthy and the government must revisit provisions to make employers responsible when imposing extra hours.”

A global survey in 2015 revealed that 70% of Malaysians are unfortunately suffering from stress and are unhappy with their jobs. Most of them couldn’t leave their job and didn’t have much choice as the job is their only source of income.
