"I'll stay true to myself" - M'sian Influencer Speaks Out on Backlash from Her Viral Oral Herpes Video
Recently, a Malaysian influencer and dessert seller known as Kieda Crepe went viral after revealing in a video that she had contracted oral herpes.
Regardless of how she was infected, many social media users were uncomfortable with how Kieda joked during her consultation. Additionally, several netizens commented that some things are better kept private and away from the public eye.

Following the backlash, Kieda took to her social media accounts to defend herself, explaining that she was simply joking in her own way, though she acknowledged that some people found it unacceptable.
“When I do something good, people will talk about it. When I do something bad, people will talk about it. When I'm joking in my own way, people get offended. But I try to accept when others joke in their ways."
"It's so hard to be Kieda. Hopefully, I'll stay true to myself, not fake, not two-faced, and never a backstabber, even if people don't like me,” she shared.
Kieda is staying home for the moment

Following her diagnosis, she shared that her crepe business is currently being run by her staff while she takes time off to rest at home.
Meanwhile, Kieda's husband, Hilmi Zaki, appears unfazed by the controversy. He responded to a netizen’s comment on TikTok, urging others to lighten up and not take things too seriously.
“My wife is the one who made the joke, so why are you the one panicking? Content is just a part of entertainment. Come on, it's 2025. My advice to you is that I can put whatever captions I want, it’s not like I’m doing anything wrong.”

In another comment, Hilmi added that Kieda’s jokes were actually harsher than what was shown online.
