While the timing (COVID-19 wise) is probably not that great, but we're happy that the government has introduced this initiative.

Times are hard, and any kind of help is much appreciated.

In a statement, the Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that the service was set up to aid the people especially those living in Putrajaya.

"The free bus service will also encourage domestic tourism to Putrajaya and help revive the local economy," he said in the statement.

Only for Malaysians

The free bus service is specifically for Malaysian citizens and will include all Nadi Putra existing routes.

"To further improve its services, the route and frequency of Nadi Putra buses have been restructured involving 12 routes in Putrajaya," he said.

Annuar added that the Federal Territories Ministry together with Putrajaya Corporation - the company that oversees Nadi Putra - will also increase the number of busses plying the route in stages starting next year. The plan is to eventually have a total of 40 busses, 37 diesel-powered busses and 3 electric ones.

"This free bus initiative which involves an estimated cost of RM12mil a year is relevant in strengthening connectivity for the well-being of the people, especially those living in Putrajaya.

"With the implementation of this facility, it is expected that the number of visitors to Putrajaya will increase by 50%," he said.
