If we want to name a child, very often, we usually stick to a significantly positive and uplifting name.

However, a couple in India who was just blessed with a beautiful pair of twins, decided to name them 'Corona' and 'Covid', after the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Yes, we kid you not!

According to a report in News Straits Times, quoting The Hindu, the couple decided on the ‘unusual’ names for the babies because it will remind them of all the hardships they conquered amid the lockdown and pandemic.

"We have named them Covid (boy) and Corona (girl) for now. The delivery happened after facing several difficulties and therefore, I and my husband wanted to make the day memorable.

"Indeed, the virus is dangerous and life-threatening – but its outbreak has made people focus on sanitation, hygiene and inculcate other good habits. Thus, we thought about these names.

They might change it later

“When the hospital staff also started calling the babies Corona and Covid, we finally decided to name them after the pandemic," said the twins’ mother, Preeti.

Nevertheless, she said they might change their babies’ names later.

And we can just imagine those little babies praying to every God that mum changes their names to something less pandemic-ky.
