Azfar Heri is known as one of Malaysia’s top influencers, having amassed over 939k subscribers on YouTube, 39 million likes on TikTok, and over 1.2 million followers on Instagram and is known for his flamboyance, dramatic personality, and humour. However, the influencer has now found himself at the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons, all because he uploaded pictures of himself with a big bag of er, nuts online.

Netizens went nuts (pun intended) when he uploaded pictures himself on an airplane with plastic bag containing many packets of nuts bearing a Malaysia Airlines (MAS) logo. According to his caption, he was asleep on the flight back to Malaysia and when he woke up, he was surprised to see a huge bag of nuts that are usually given out as snacks on MAS flights. When he asked the flight attendant, it turns out that she had given it to him for free and he expressed his appreciation to her.

However, criticism quickly poured in from Twitter users who commented that it was not fair for the influencer to receive so many packets just because he was well known while others only received a single small packet.

One user commented that the flight attendant should be investigated, and we assume they meant face disciplinary action.

The situation escalated when a Twitter user posted that the flight attendant had been fired because giving out such large quantities of the nuts was apparently a misconduct. However, the Tweet did not have any source and was later deleted. It is not clear if this actually occurred.

Singer Zarul Umbrella who was also previously a flight attendant, also chimed in on the issue on TikTok saying that her actions were a breach of the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the company.

People were still so upset that Azfar had to upload a lengthy explanation and apology to his Twitter page. He said, “First of all, I would like to apologise for uploading the pictures of the peanuts that I received on the flight. The nuts were given free of charge and I did not request for a single packet from MAS throughout the flights. However, I appreciate the gift very much.”

He continued, my mistake was posting the pictures without taking into consideration the impact that would be faced by the flight attendant. To be honest, I did not know that there was an SOP about not giving extra peanuts to passengers and I apologise for not being aware of this in the first place.”

He also mentioned about how the claims of the flight attendant in question allegedly being fired had been uploaded by two separate Twitter accounts but later deleted. He said that for now he was unable to comment on the termination issue as MAS has not released an official statement. He went on to say that he would give his full cooperation to MAS and hoped to meet up with everyone involved to solve it and apologised again.

Twitter users chimed in again saying that it was not his fault as he did not know about the SOP when he uploaded the pictures while others said that he should have thought things through.

There is no word yet from MAS on this issue as of the time of writing.
