According to CNA, thousands of Instagram accounts were locked and suspended worldwide including ones owned by Malaysians.
Instagram posted a statement via the brand’s Twitter account (yes, the irony) as they officially acknowledge the issue at hand.
A large number of users replied to the tweet with their satisfaction with the suspension. As of now, the reason for the suspension is still unclear as Instagram has yet to release a full statement regarding the matter. We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown

This is what my account looks like currently. You need a live customer support department. I had a previous account suspended and disabled. After reading community guides lines I found no fault on my part. This is a serious issue @instagram @InstagramComms I want my accounts back pic.twitter.com/m8h9JW3rXN

There were also multiple reports from active Instagram accounts seeing their follower count plummet including influencers such as Khairul Aming himself.
tadi IG hilang 16k followers. lepas 5 minit jadi 18k. now dah 20k hilang dalam masa 10 minit ?

If you’re affected by the issue, Instagram is still recovering from the problem but rest assured your suspension will most likely be temporary.
