It's Final: No Ramadan Bazaars Will Be Allowed During MCO
Are you guys looking forward to the annual Ramadan bazaars?
Sorry guys, they aren't happening this year.
For the safety of the rakyat
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has confirmed that there will be no such bazaars held this year throughout the country during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period. The Ramadan period is expected to fall on 23 April.
The Star Online reported that the decision was made in the special Cabinet committee on non-health related issues pertaining to the MCO on 3 April.
“We have come to a decision that for as long as the MCO is in force, there will be no Ramadan bazaars.
“After that, if there is no extension to the order, the National Security Council will come up with a post-MCO standard operating procedure.
This came after several states -- namely Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Terengganu -- has decided to cancel Ramadan bazaars in the state this year.
To be honest, we agree with the decision to cancel the bazaars this year. We have to stay safe during the MCO period, and holding a Ramadan bazaar would defeat the purpose of implementing a MCO.
