It's Not Sporadic After All: MOH Says Suspected Sporadic Case Traced To Masjid Sri Petaling
Earlier on Thursday (12 March), the Ministry Of Health announced that the country had detected its first sporadic case of Covid-19.
If you do not know what it means, sporadic refers to a case where the infected person neither travelled to affected areas nor had contact with infected persons.
According to The Star, when sporadic cases occur, it indicates that the virus has spread within the community.
False alarm
Fortunately, hours later, the ministry managed to find the source.
According to a follow up report by The Star, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the ministry managed to trace the source of the case to the tabligh event at the Sri Petaling mosque.

"Sporadic cases are positive Covid-19 cases that have no links to any cluster or any source.
"For this case, the individual was discovered through our severe acute respiratory infection surveillance screening.
"The individual tested positive for Covid-19. However, after investigation, the patient was found to have attended the religious event at Masjid Sri Petaling. Therefore, this is not a sporadic case," said Dr Noor Hisham.
That was a close call!
