“It's shocking, but we're at peace with it” – Families of UPSI Crash Victims Forgive Bus Driver
No parent imagines they will outlive their child, but for Halim Sidik and Ahmad Azizol, it was a harsh reality they had no choice but to accept.
Halim Sidik, 58, and Ahmad Azizol, 26, were the father and brother of two Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students who tragically lost their lives along with 13 others in a horrific crash on Jalan Gerik-Jeli early Monday morning (June 9).

Despite the tragic loss, Halim, the father of Muhammad Adib Hazim, 21, said he forgives the driver of the chartered bus.
In a report, Halim said he had accepted what had happened and refused to hold any grudges against the bus driver, regardless of the many stories he had come across about him online.
“Allah loves Adib more. Whatever happens, we are at peace with it. I think the driver also has a family of his own, and he had no intention of driving too fast. Let him beg for forgiveness from God,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Azizol, 26, the brother of Nor Ayuni, 21, also said his family had accepted what had happened and forgave the bus driver.
Describing the day his family found out about the tragic accident, Ahmad Azizol said the family especially his father, Maslan Abd Rahman, was still in shock.
It is understood that the late Nor Ayuni was the youngest of eight siblings.
“None of us has been able to sleep since that day, especially my father. However, we're at peace with it and forgive the driver for what happened,” he said, as reported in Sinar Harian.

Previously, it was reported that the bus driver, Mohd Amirul Fadhil Zulkiflie, 39, had issued an apology to all students and their families affected by the tragedy.
In a statement, Mohd Amirul claimed that brake failure caused the crash. He also said he had tried his best to avoid the worst by swerving past at least four vehicles, including a lorry, before the bus overturned.
